We at Lititz Christian Church believe in simple and pure devotion to Jesus Christ, our Lord...
2 Corinthians 11:3. But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. [NASB 95]
First and foremost, our devotion is to Jesus Christ, our Lord. We are devoted to Him because He loves us. He even loved us when we hated Him and wanted nothing to do with God (Romans 5:8). We were in rebellion against a gracious and loving God, demanding our own way, even though that way led to misery and joylessness (Romans 6:23).
But God provided a simple way for us (John 14:6). Though Jesus was God, the Son of God the Father, He became a human. He took on our form, our sorrows, even our sins. He lived a blameless and good life. He permitted Himself to be killed as if He were a common criminal, at the hands of a ruthless and uncaring empire (Philippians 2:6-8).
However, it was this death that revealed His love to us. This death accomplished two great things. First, it was a sacrifice for us. It set us free from our bondage to guilt, shame and rebellion (I Peter 3;18). Second, it allowed each of us to know Jesus, personally and experientially (Philippians 3:8).
Lititz was founded by the Moravians and named by Count Zinzendorf of Austria. The town is named after the castle in the Czech Repulblic where the followers of John Hus first sought refuge from persecution. Lititz was owned completely by the Moravian Church for many decades. Come and celebrate with us the 250th Anniversary of our beloved town! You can see the events taking place in town by visiting the Lititz Springs Park website at http://www.lititzspringspark.org/, the 250th Anniversary site at http://www.lititz250.org/ or Lititz's own site at http://www.co.lancaster.pa.us/lititz/site/default.asp.
